VMworld 2018 – Barcelona
This year I had the opportunity to go to VMworld 2018 in Barcelona! Thanks Anylinq! What an event! Packed with interesting sessions but limited time so I had to choose carefully.
The first day I did a workshop on Horizon but basically it was a walkthrough of a hands-on-lab. After that I did the NSX 6.2 exam (with a pass!) So now I am double VCP…
Of all the sessions I attended there were some that covered new technology. At least, for me it was new 😉 Anyway, I will try to cover the most important ones.
END2713BE – Co-manage Workspace ONE + SCCM: Get to Windows 10 Modern Management Faster
This session was about a relatively new product from VMware: Workspace ONE AirLift.
This product is focused on simplifying co-management and transitioning to cloud-based management of your Windows 10 endpoints.
By connecting to your Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager environment and pulling data from your applications and collections, it makes this data available in Workspace ONE.

HCI3041BE – Introducing Scalable File Storage on vSAN with Native File Services
No need to repeat something that an expert already covered… Personally I think the product is not quite finished yet but it looks promising.

HYP3019BE – VMware Site Recovery: DR-as-a-service with VMware Cloud on AWS
Another session I attended was about DR-as-a-service. It leverages VM Replication and Site Recovery Manager to failover your VMware environment to the cloud.
With this you can recover from disaster without the need to setup a complete DR site.

NET1642BE – NSX-PowerOps: Day2 Ops, NSX Health, Security, and Automated Documentation
One of the last sessions I attended was about NSX-PowerOps. It is a platform to document your NSX-v environment and the output is Excel and Visio.
You get reports on the desired state and on the realized state in one overview. Besides documentation it also gives you some healthcheck tools.
